Natural Bridge
About Us
Our online subscription offers online access to all fiction, nonfiction, and poetry from the most recent issue in addition to an expanding archive of previous issues and other exclusive content.
Natural Bridge is an online-exclusive feature published through a collaboration with the Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. MFA and MA students work alongside Boulevard editors and UMSL faculty to select writing for both print and online publications. Additionally, one MFA student serves as Natural Bridge managing editor; funding for this position is provided generously by the UMSL College of Arts and Sciences.
Founded by Steve Schreiner just prior to the new millennium, Natural Bridge matured under the care and dedication of Mary Troy. The biannual journal of contemporary literature printed continuously through 2020 and features fiction, poetry, nonfiction, and translations by award-winning writers. New, emerging, and mid-career writers whose work has been published in Natural Bridge have gone on to win the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction, the Drue Heinz Literature Prize, the John Ciardi Prize for Poetry, and more.
